ANALOGIC presents a series of paintings inspired by the notion of analogy expounded in Umberto Eco’s novel, Foucault’s Pendulum. For the exhibition, the pictures are image sequences of related words, concepts and objects, for instance, Doughnut - Life, Preserver - Bathing Suit - Sea - Ship - Shit. In the form of a diagram, Anti-Clockwise illustrates how traces of this ancient system of analogy, used in Greek Science and Mediaeval Thoughts, could be found in a nostalgic conversation. An evening conversation, between two unemployed middle-aged men and a housewife, about some abandoned buildings, forgotten words, neglected ideas, analog appliances, and obsolete machineries.
